Richard Harrington
Richard J. (Dick) Harrington is chairman and general partner of The Cue Ball Group, a private investment partnership with a hybrid venture and growth equity focus in consumer and media businesses, and former CEO of the world’s largest information services firm, The Thomson Reuters Corporation.
During his 11 years as CEO of Thomson, Dick led the transformation of the company from a diverse holding company with interests in publishing into an integrated operating company to a leading global provider of electronic information, software and services to business and professional customers. Under his direction, Thomson’s market value more than tripled from $10B to over $33B and the company became a celebrated case study in how a large business can adapt quickly and repeatedly to take advantage of changing markets.
Prior to becoming CEO of The Thomson Corporation, Dick held a number of senior leadership positions within the company since 1982, including CEO of Thomson Newspapers, and CEO of Thomson Professional Publishing.
Dick holds a BS degree in accounting from the University of Rhode Island. In 2002, he was also presented an honorary doctorate of laws from URI. Dick began his professional career with Arthur Young & Co., where he became a licensed CPA.
Dick serves on the boards of directors of Xerox Corporation, Aetna, Inc., Milliken & Co., Cushing Academy, and the University of Rhode Island Foundation. He has received many honors during his career. In 2007, he received the “Legend in Leadership” award from the Yale University Chief Executive Leadership Institute, the “CEO of the Year” award from the executive council, and the “Man of the Year” award from the national executive council for his many philanthropic activities.
Rich Kelley
Mr. Kelley brings 25 years of revenue leadership experience in both Fortune 500 and small-to-medium sized company environments. He has served in a wide variety of executive roles that include global sales and marketing management, indirect channels management, product line management, product development, international services management, and corporate financial management. He has also served in direct sales roles as an individual contributor, and as a management consultant to other executives.
Alumni firms include Digital Equipment Corp., PricewaterhouseCoopers, EDS Corp., Nortel Networks, Commerce-TV Corp., Frequency & Time Systems Inc, and NBB> Inc. Most recently Mr. Kelley has served as President of SellMasters Inc, and he is currently an Advisor to IntelliSource International.
Mr. Kelley has led a variety of successful market and business development initiatives that have resulted in program wins $100M and up, strategic partnerships between $10B companies, strategic realignment of corporate direction in both public and private firms, business turnarounds from net loss to net profit within 6 months, and the management of appropriated fund military operations.
Mr. Kelley has served on his town Finance Committee, town Community Chest, and local ToastMasters chapter… after completing national service as a Captain in the USAF. An honors graduate of the Air Force Academy with a BS in Engineering Management, Mr. Kelley also holds an MS in Management from UCLA.
